What's too high for mother-of-the-bride?

I read your column regularly and like your suggestions.
My daughter will be getting married mid-October this year. The groom's mother will be wearing an ankle-length medium-mauve dress. I am 68, 5"3 in height and 120 pounds. I've always had a problem finding dresses that fit (small top, not so small waist), so I tend toward tops and bottoms.
I happened to find not one, but two, beautiful dresses that fit me perfectly and make me feel really good. One is dusty rose and the other is a lovely (not dark) navy blue, with just the right amount of bling. Both are strap dresses with small jackets.
